Localizing Avian Influenza Control in Indonesia
RATIONALEWinrock has received a Task Order from DAI under RAISE Plus.
OBJECTIVES
Translate Indonesia's national plan for the control of Avian Influenza in a defined, localized geographic area. Determine and reduce the prevalence of H5N1 Avian Influenza in this area by testing how recommended approaches work on the ground. Apply experiences and lessons learned in other areas. Strengthen local capabilities ad capacities.
ACTIVITIES
Winrock will:
Promote coordination and planning with the GOI
Assist National Committee for AI to coordinate multi-sector planning and preparedness at the national and local level; Increase surveillance in humans and animals
Develop communications and community based activities to support surveillance and reporting of AI infections to GOI
Reduce AI infections in animals and humans by developing community based activities to increase understanding and prevention measures
Ensure rapid and effective treatment and management of animal and human AI infections, promote rapid containment and early care interventions
Promote long term behavior change by facilitating adoption of risk reducing behaviors and practices among target population.
