Forestry and Natural Resource Management
Winrock’s Forestry and Natural Resources Management team promotes sustainability, economic resilience and applies science to address some of the most profound impacts of global environmental degradation and biodiversity loss. Those impacts include deepening ecosystem disruption including the loss of forests and other critical terrestrial habitats, food scarcity and water insecurity, and intensifying natural disasters resulting from climate change. Environmental degradation and biodiversity loss have profound impacts globally. They disrupt ecosystems, threaten food and water security, and exacerbate natural disasters, which compromise the well-being of present and future generations. We promote environmental sustainability and economic resilience across the globe to mitigate and adapt to these pressures by applying science to restore and manage natural resources.

Scaling Forest Finance: Jurisdictional REDD+ Technical Assistance and Capacity Strengthening
Jurisdictional Reducing Emissions from Deforestation and Forest Degradation (JREDD+) is a crucial mechanism for tropical forest countries seeking to achieve climate commitments, enhance sustainable forest management and access climate finance. Globally, JREDD+ has the potential to unlock billions in results-based finance for nature, protect hundreds of millions of hectares of forest and bolster the rights and resources of Indigenous peoples and local communities. Learn how Winrock’s technical assistance advances transparent and accurate emissions accounting — ensuring verified results and trusted carbon credits while strengthening jurisdictions’ long-term capacity to meet international climate commitments, such as Nationally Determined Contributions.
