Winrock Responds to COVID-19

With projects around the world, Winrock International has been dealing with COVID-19 since January, when the novel coronavirus shut down daily life in China, one of the 46 countries in which Winrock works. As the virus has spread across the globe, the organization has ramped up its response: increasing communication, adjusting to altered workflow, and finding creative new ways to continue pursuing its mission amidst restrictions.

Winrock has responded to the pandemic in a variety of other ways both international —initiating a French language poster to educate beneficiaries in a fisheries project in Senegal — to domestic, responding to a COVID-19-related supply chain breakdown by assisting the First Nations Development Institute in facilitating the delivery of 21,000 gallons of water to Native communities in the Southwest.

As the U.S. government’s largest implementer of counter-trafficking work, Winrock has made the safety and security of migrants a top priority. It has pivoted the work of ongoing projects to concentrate on ensuring that migrants have the food, shelter and sanitary supplies they need and on amplifying important public health messages to stop the spread of the novel coronavirus.
