CLEAN’s Good Agricultural Practices Pilot Launch in Vientiane

Alex Dahan, Chief of Party of the USDA-funded CLEAN project, implemented by Winrock International in partnership with the Laos Department of Agriculture, at the Good Agricultural Practices Market Pilot launch in February 2020 at the International Trade Exhibition and Convention Centre in Vientiane, Laos. “Everything today is about GAP,” (Good Agricultural Practices), Dahan told a Laos news crew covering the event, in reference to CLEAN’s objectives of sustainably increasing agricultural productivity of while boosting trade of agricultural products in domestic, regional and international markets. “CLEAN is basically what we’re doing here today. We’re creating linkages between farmers and the market,” Dahan said, helping to demonstrate that a growing segment of consumers are willing to pay premium prices for higher-quality food grown by farmers following international food safety and agriculture standards.
