From food security to poverty to economic development and good governance, few countries on earth face as many challenges as Afghanistan. Exacerbating these enormous problems is Afghanistan’s ongoing violence and instability. Though Winrock doesn’t currently have any active programs in Afghanistan, our work over the past decade has focused primarily on extending the benefits of hydropower, solar and other clean energy to the millions of people who lack any energy access whatsoever. Primarily, this has involved providing technical assistance to assess the feasibility of energy infrastructure projects.
