Senegal
Senegal has made tremendous strides politically and economically in the past decade. However, many challenges to growth remain, including poor infrastructure, an underdeveloped agriculture sector and limited access to education and health care. Winrock’s work in the West African nation since the 1980s has included working with smallholder farmers to improve nutrition and incomes, increasing the skills and numbers of women farmers in the food system, and preventing and reducing the number of children working in dangerous labor conditions.
