Sierra Leone
Winrock’s work with community-based partners, government and other stakeholders to support sustainable development in Sierra Leone stretches back more than two decades. Winrock has helped manage human rights projects aimed at reducing the number of children working in harmful conditions by increasing educational alternatives and promoting replicable strategies to combat child labor. In agriculture ─ the main livelihoods provider for more than half of the country’s adult population ─ Winrock partners with host organizations to introduce climate-smart innovations, promote local tech, and enhance food security and nutrition through skills development aimed at boosting productivity and resilience. Winrock also supports improved biodiversity conservation and activities that generate income and support sustainable forest management through increased collaboration between government, communities and the private sector.
