Joyjit Deb Roy Named Acting President and CEO of Winrock International
Veteran Chief Global Programs and Development Officer Joyjit Deb Roy has been named Acting President and Chief Executive Officer of Winrock International, the organization’s Board of Directors announced.
Deb Roy, who oversees a broad portfolio of programs across Winrock’s Agriculture, Resilience & Water, Human Rights, Education & Empowerment, Clean Energy & Environment, U.S. Programs and other groups, takes over for outgoing President and CEO Rodney Ferguson, who held the position 10 years.
“We are grateful for the work of Rodney Ferguson over a decade-long period during which Winrock continued to grow and thrive, evolving into the multi-faceted, innovative organization it is today,” said Winrock’s Board Chairman Jude Kearney. “We wish Rodney all the best in his next chapter. During this transition we have asked Joyjit Deb Roy to assume CEO responsibilities. Joyjit’s deep executive experience and abilities are already well known, but I can add that he is an incredible talent who is fully dedicated to supporting Winrock and our partners as we make this change.”
Deb Roy has worked closely for eight years with Winrock’s vice president of global programs supervising the diverse programs portfolio, as well AGILE ─ the organization’s monitoring, evaluation, research and learning team ─ and the New Business group. He has ensured that Winrock’s mission, goals and programmatic priorities are maintained and achieved.
Prior to joining Winrock, Deb Roy served as managing director at ACDI/VOCA, where he supported global projects in agribusiness, enterprise development, climate change, food security and other initiatives. He has worked in more than 38 countries across Africa, Asia, the Caribbean, Central and South America, and Eastern Europe, and has managed projects for government clients including USAID, USDA, and USDOL; for multi-lateral development banks including the World Bank; and foundations and private sector partners.
Winrock’s search for a new CEO is being led by Winrock’s Board of Directors and an external executive search firm.
