North Little Rock Mini Maker Faire Set For May 11

Celebrating innovation and creativity; makers are invited to show and tell

LITTLE ROCK, ARK. — March 13, 2019 — Glimpse the future and get inspired with the Arkansas Regional Innovation Hub at the fifth annual North Little Rock Mini Maker Faire at the North Shore Riverwalk on Saturday, May 11, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Admission is FREE for all attendees.

Modeled after the original San Francisco Bay Area Maker Faire—known as “the Greatest Show (and Tell) on Earth”—the North Little Rock Mini Maker Faire is a family-friendly celebration of invention and resourcefulness featuring robot wars, drone races, rockets, DIY science and technology, alternative energy, bicycles, unique handmade crafts, music, educational workshops, installations and demonstrations. Food and beverages will be available from local food trucks.

“Making is tinkering. Making is problem-solving. Making is producing new and innovative solutions and products,” said Dr. Christopher Jones, executive director and lead maker at the Arkansas Regional Innovation Hub. “This year’s Mini Maker Faire features creative projects from around Arkansas and beyond its borders, as we are inviting demonstrations by selected makers who have shown promise at local maker events in their home communities.”

Makers who are interested in participating and exhibiting can respond to the “Call for Makers” at http://northlittlerock.makerfaire.com. The deadline to apply is April 21.

The North Little Rock Mini Maker Faire is sponsored by Make: magazine and makezine.com, and Winrock’s Arkansas Regional Innovation Hub. Additional sponsorships are available. Contact estanger@arhub.org or call 501-907-6570 for more information.
