Winrock International is supporting Bolivia to advance a high-integrity jurisdictional REDD+ program in the Charagua Iyambae Indigenous Territory that enables the country to access results-based climate finance while strengthening long-term forest governance. Funded by Conservation International, this work focuses on helping government partners meet the rigorous requirements of the Architecture for REDD+ Transactions (ART) program under the TREES standard, positioning Bolivia to generate verified emissions reductions and participate in global carbon markets. By building the technical systems and institutional capacity needed for transparent, credible carbon accounting, the project contributes to Bolivia’s national climate commitments while supporting sustainable forest management at scale.
To achieve this, Winrock is providing targeted technical assistance across two core areas. First, the project supports the preparation of key ART and TREES documentation, including the development and refinement of required registration and monitoring materials. Second, Winrock is strengthening Bolivia’s monitoring, reporting and verification systems to ensure emissions reductions are measured accurately and consistently in line with international standards.
