Colin Quinn

Portfolio Director, Environment

Colin Quinn is Winrock’s portfolio director for Environment, where he leads programs that link science, policy and practice to strengthen climate resilience and environmental outcomes in the U.S. and internationally. He brings over two decades of experience working across ecological research, climate adaptation and risk management, with a focus on translating data and analysis into practical, science-based, solutions. Colin has led climate initiatives across sub‑Saharan Africa, Asia, in the western U.S. and other regions, supporting efforts that address climate risks in agriculture, conservation, water resources and public health. His work has included designing and managing large‑scale adaptation programs to improve climate resilience, strengthening the use of climate information and technology, and supporting national and international climate planning and policy initiatives processes. He also has worked with multidisciplinary teams to inform climate policy and improve resilience in diverse settings. Trained as a plant ecologist, Colin has conducted field‑based research in the western U.S. as well as in tropical ecosystems, and brings a strong grounding in applied science to his leadership. He holds a doctorate in plant ecology from Colorado State University and a biology degree from the University of Canterbury in New Zealand.
