Director, Nature-Based Solutions

Katie Goslee serves as Winrock’s Director of Nature-Based Solutions within the Ecosystems Services Unit, a team of technical experts that develop and implement climate change solutions in the land use sector. She has over 20 years of experience in forestry, climate change mitigation and adaptation, greenhouse gas accounting, land use, and land use change in over 24 countries across South America, Southeast Asia, Africa, the U.S., and the Caribbean. Katie has led a wide range of Winrock projects aimed at protecting ecosystems and biodiversity and addressing climate change, including Offset National Emissions through Sustainable Landscapes (ONE-SL) and Private Investment for Enhanced Resilience (PIER). As both a project manager and director, she has enabled countries to implement Reducing Emissions from Deforestation and forest Degradation (REDD+) mechanisms, identified carbon market and greenhouse gas emission reduction opportunities, and engaged the private sector to address climate change. Katie has produced and co-authored numerous publications and reports, specializing in guidance for REDD+. She provided technical support to the Guyana Forestry Commission in developing their REDD+ Forest Reference Level, the first submitted to the UNFCCC; supported REDD+ readiness efforts in multiple countries, including Vietnam and Liberia; and developed monitoring and reporting systems for forest carbon projects across the U.S. Prior to joining Winrock, Katie served as a program specialist for the U.S. Forest Service Cooperative Forestry unit in Washington, D.C. and the sustainable forestry program coordinator for Appalachian Voices in Boone, NC. She has passed the California State Registered Professional Forester Examination, and completed the California Air Resources Board Offset Verifier course. Katie holds an MS in Forestry from the State University of New York College of Environmental Science and Forestry and an MPA from Syracuse University Maxwell School.
