Guatemala

Guatemala is the most populous country in Central America and more than half its people live below the poverty line — with greater than one in every 10 mired in extreme poverty. Like many neighboring nations, the country is also highly susceptible to the impacts of climate change. Winrock has spent decades in Guatemala providing technical assistance to farmers, helping smallholders reach new markets for greater income, and bringing solar technology to isolated communities lacking electricity. Winrock has also worked to prevent child labor in agriculture and has supported the development of REDD+ strategies to mitigate the impacts of climate change.
