Partnering with Communities and Local Government Institutions in Liberia to Improve Access to Safe, Sustainable Water Services

Project Title: Improved Access to Safe Drinking Water in Liberia

Funded by USAID, the Improved Access to Safe Drinking Water in Liberia activity works in partnership with Local Government Institutions and Water Service Providers to support improved service delivery at the community level, allowing for more responsive and decentralized management of critical water resources. In partnership with WaterAid and FEI Consulting, Winrock will use a phased capacity-building approach to empower and incentivize LGIs and WSPs to collaborate to improve and expand equitable and sustainable pay-for-use water services. This approach is built on a foundation of transparency, accountability, inclusivity, and continuous improvement through use of data and evidence for informed and adaptive decision-making. The activity aims to strengthen the ability of both county- and community-level Water, Sanitation and Hygiene teams and committees to design, monitor, contract and expand access to safe drinking water services that are responsive to the needs of users, particularly women.
