Business Plan Development

Location: Kankan

Assignment Number: GUI305

Volunteers Requested: 1

Recruiter: Sherri Kabaou | SKabaou@winrock.org | 501.280.3019

Winrock International requests the support of a Farmer-to-Farmer volunteer for a 17- day volunteer assignment (including travel) located in Kankan – Guinea. The volunteer will train the technical staff and executive board members of the Federation of Rice Producers’ Unions of Upper Guinea (FUPRORIZ-HG) on how to develop a business plan, identify financial opportunities, and apply for loan, grant or international subvention. To perform their activities and business, rice producers need loans, but they do not have the competence to develop a business plan and are not aware of the documentation and procedures required by microfinance institutions or banks to apply for a loan.

Upon arrival, the volunteer is expected to visit bank and non-bank financial institutions, such as FODA (Funds for Development Agriculture in Guinea), to understand the country’s loan requirements comprehensively. Through hands-on guidance, the host will develop the skills needed to navigate the financial landscape confidently. This will lay a strong foundation for rice production enterprises in Upper Guinea, promoting resilience and prosperity within the agricultural community.

The volunteer should have the following qualifications and background:

University degree/technical school in agribusiness, finance, agriculture, or another relevant field.

At least five years of practical experience in the private sector (business, finance, or another relevant sector).

Prior experience developing strategic and business plans or assisting organizations to build these plans.

Experience in securing credit/loans, grants, or other types of funding from external agencies (microfinance institutions or grant-making institutions).

Good written and spoken French language skills are desired.

Availability to travel to the host site about 600 km to Conakry during the assignment by the project vehicle.
