Winrock International is seeking a Farmer-to-Farmer volunteer to make a meaningful impact on women’s groups in Tacoudiala, Velingara department, Kolda region, Senegal. This 17-day assignment, including travel, will involve training women in soap-making using locally sourced agricultural products, with a focus on maintaining high hygiene and quality standards. By the end of the training, participants will have the skills to diversify their income sources and add value to their products, enhancing their economic resilience.

Soap-making is a valuable income-generating activity, particularly for women’s groups who play a vital role in the local economy. Increasingly aware of the benefits of natural over chemical-based products, these groups typically rely on agricultural inputs like shea butter, palm kernel oil, coconut oil, leaves, and essential oils sourced from local farmers and oil processors. Their participation in these value chains allows them to contribute economically to their households and communities.

Volunteer Qualifications:

  • Minimum of five years’ experience in soap-making using agricultural products.
  • Background in processing systems for products in developing countries.
  • Experience in training adult learners.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • French language skills are preferred but not required.
