Organic Farming

Winrock International seeks a Farmer-to-Farmer volunteer for an 18-day volunteer assignment to lead training sessions for the Cooperative Society of Seeds and Local Cereals Producers of Keur Maba Diakhou. The volunteer will work with producer leaders and farmers to improve pest, disease, weed management, and nursery and soil preparation techniques. Training will cover transplanting seedlings, water management, and the benefits of climate-smart organic farming. Additionally, the volunteer will explore income-generating activities such as compost-making.

Responsibilities:

· Lead training on pest, disease, and weed management.

· Teach nursery and soil preparation techniques.

· Instruct on transplanting seedlings and effective water management.

· Promote the advantages of climate-smart organic farming.

· Explore and develop income-generating activities like compost-making for the cooperative.

Qualifications:

· Master’s degree or higher in horticulture, agriculture, or a related field.

· Experience in agricultural education and training focusing on horticulture and organic farming.

· Experience working in developing countries with tropical environments preferred.

· Training and/or teaching experience in organic farming.

· Experience in adult education preferred.

· French language skills preferred but not mandatory.
