Sales and Marketing Training

Location: N’Zérékoré, Guinea

Assignment Number: GUI326

Volunteers Requested: 1

Recruiter: Jennifer Robinson | Jennifer.Robinson@winrock.org |

Winrock International is seeking a Farmer-to-Farmer volunteer for a 17-day assignment (including travel) in N’Zérékoré, Guinea. The volunteer will provide comprehensive training to the technical staff and executive board members of the Regional Federation of Palm Oil and Rubber Producers (FEREPPAH) on effective sales and marketing techniques for their local products and services, focusing on selling palm seedlings. This training aims to equip FEREPPAH members with the skills, knowledge, and mindset needed to become confident and effective salespeople. The volunteer will emphasize that successful sales are not just about selling products but building relationships, understanding customer needs, and delivering solutions that create value for both parties. To address this, the volunteer will work with FEREPPAH to:

·       Assess critical constraints and opportunities in the local market.

·       Discuss climate-smart marketing strategies with FEREPPAH members.

·       Provide comprehensive guidelines and practical advice on sustainable marketing strategies for local and broader markets.

·       Develop exercises and case studies focusing on climate-smart practices to enhance participants’ understanding and application of marketing concepts.

FEREPPAH traditionally provides extension services to small family farmers and organizations, financing its activities through membership fees and donations from international agricultural development organizations. These funds aim to improve service quality and increase agricultural productivity among its members.

Despite its strengths, FEREPPAH recognizes a critical need for expertise in sales and marketing to strengthen its operations. Addressing this gap will empower members to effectively market their products, including palm seedlings, and implement sustainable business growth strategies.

Qualifications and Background

The ideal volunteer for this assignment should have the following qualifications and experience:

·       A bachelor’s or master’s degree in agriculture, agri-food, international development, business administration, trade and marketing, or a related field.

·       Strong management skills and broad knowledge of environmental sustainability.

·       The ability to adapt strategies to address emerging challenges and opportunities in the agriculture sector, such as climate change adaptation and market diversification.

·       Strong written and oral communication skills.

·       French language skills are preferred but not required; interpreters will be provided.

·       Physical ability to travel to the host site, located approximately 354 miles (570 km) southeast of Conakry, Guinea’s capital.
