Executive Director, American Carbon Registry & CEO, Environmental Resources Trust
Mary Grady has been active in environmental markets for almost 30 years, including 15 years at Winrock International. She is executive director of the Secretariat for the Architecture for REDD+ Transactions (ART), a jurisdictional REDD+ crediting program launched in 2018, as well as executive director of the American Carbon Registry (ACR), responsible for the strategic leadership of ACR and it respected team of technical and policy experts in the California-regulated, International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO)-regulated, and voluntary carbon markets. At ACR she has overseen the issuance of over 150 million tons of carbon credits, including over 100 million tons from forestry projects valued at over $1 billion. Mary led the application process and secured approval of both ART and ACR to supply credits to the ICAO’s Carbon Offsetting Scheme for International Aviation. She actively represents Winrock as the head of delegation as Observer NGO to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change, , serves on the Council of the International Emissions Trading Association, is a member of the Task Force for Scaling Voluntary Carbon Markets, and serves on the Steering Committee for the World Economic Forum’s Natural Climate Solutions Alliance. Prior to working in carbon markets, Mary worked for 16 years in the renewable energy industry, including as operations leader of Clipper Windpower and in Brazil as director of Kyocera Solar’s pioneering rural electrification program. She holds a master’s in international business and speaks Portuguese and Spanish. She lives with her family in California.
