Innovation@Winrock is a new series of events hosted by Winrock showcasing topics of international importance to development and the environment. Endeavoring to enhance impact and positive results, these events will explore best practices, emerging models, and advancements in the international development sector. At each event, leading thinkers and innovators will present new concepts and approaches before taking part in a discussion with the audience.
Events will be held every second month and are open to a broad range of audiences. See Upcoming Events for information on planned events including topics, presenters, and registration. Most seminars will be held at Winrock International’s offices in Arlington, Virginia but remote attendees will be able to participate via webinar.
Innovation@Winrock is subtitled The Sandra Brown Seminars on Technical Leadership in Development Seminar Series in recognition of the late Dr. Sandra Brown. Dr. Brown recognized the role of forests and agriculture in impacting the global climate more than a decade before this was recognized by the international community. Over her nearly 20 years at Winrock International, Brown developed methods to evaluate, quantify and project the carbon and environmental benefits of improved land management such as afforestation/reforestation, wetland management and preventing deforestation and forest degradation.
