Smart Agricultural Practices with ICT

Winrock International requests the support of a Farmer-to-Farmer volunteer for a 19-day volunteer assignment (including travel) located in Sing Sing, Kaolack, Senegal. The volunteer will train members of the Cooperative Society for the Development of Intelligent Agriculture (SCOOPADAI) on smart agricultural practices based on an ICT system, including basic information on the existing system, diagnosis of SCOOPADAI experimented system, software-technology development, and establishment of a smart farming system. This assignment will help build the capacities of SCOOPADAI members who are current AgroTIC Bachelor of the Sine-Saloum University of Kaolack graduates. The volunteer will provide information and necessary skills to implement the ICT used for smart agriculture to face climate change and promote sustainable agriculture. In addition, this training will provide participants with information and skills to organize their group well and create a tremendous organizational climate with a sound understanding of roles and responsibilities.

The volunteer should have the following qualifications and background: 

• University degree in agriculture, smart agriculture, or another related field. 

• At least five years of experience working with cooperatives or helping them implement a smart agriculture system.

• Background on the use of ICT systems in agriculture.

• Good understanding of challenges of intelligent agriculture in developing countries.

• Experience in training adults along with students.

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills. 

• French language skills preferred but not mandatory.
