Dominican Republic
Winrock has worked in the Dominican Republic since the 1990s on initiatives including the creation of an independent renewable energy promotion entity, research to facilitate and accelerate the large-scale use of wind energy technologies, and on innovative climate financing to incentivize private sector investment to support national development objectives addressing climate change. Winrock has also worked with the private sector to assess forced labor and child labor in the cocoa industry. Today, Winrock is working with communities, local partners and the government to reduce waste in municipalities leading to cleaner oceans, supporting economies to thrive and build resilience to climate and economic shocks.
