Friends of Winrock
Friends of Winrock collaborate to amplify both the scope and impact of Winrock’s mission by telling our story to new people in new places, helping us organically grow a critical organizational asset: our diverse, multi-talented and influential network. Friends comprise an informal guild of former Winrock board members and staff, as well as key advisors, changemakers and strategic partners.
Vision
The organizing principle behind this network of thinkers and doers is simple: Winrock both treasures and benefits deeply from the experience, expertise and insight of farsighted individuals whose ideas can help Winrock complete its mission and to constantly improve.
Since Winrock’s founding in 1985, the reach of our activities has steadily expanded, and now span a portfolio of more than 100 agriculture, environment, and social development projects that reach deep into and work sensitively with diverse communities spread across more than 40 countries. As we navigate some of the most complex challenges of our times – climate change and ecosystems protection, a fulsome but equitable (and cleaner) energy transition, trafficking and mass migration, food security and poverty ─ now, seemingly more than ever, Winrock needs a multi-faceted matrix of committed, connected Friends who can bring their knowledge, understanding, expertise, and ideas to our team.
How We Work
We seek the membership of people whose experiences and world vision are relevant to our mission, and who have expressed interest and willingness to support Winrock in one or more of its strategic initiatives. Those initiatives include growing our own, internal staff diversity as well as diversification of programming and activities, fostering substantive, fact-based community discussion on climate issues, and fundraising to help us deliver programs as broadly as possible, among others.
The Friends of Winrock is facilitated by Winrock’s Board Partnerships, Development and Philanthropy Committee and was established in 2022.
