USAID Kyrgyz Republic features: “Migrant.kg provides a ray of hope for Kyrgyz Republic labor migrants”
The USAID Safe Migration in Central Asia activity, which aims to strengthen the mutual accountability of governments, NGOs and the private sector to prevent trafficking in persons, protect survivors, and promote safe migration, is featured in an article published by USAID Kyrgyz Republic Exposure.
“Migrant.kg provides a ray of hope for Kyrgyz Republic labor migrants” shares the stories of Rashid Koshaliyev, from the Chui region in the Kyrgyz Republic, and Aidar Asanbek Uluu of Bishkek, both of whom received support including information about job opportunities and how to work abroad, along with connections to operators and lawyers to help answer questions.
SMICA deployed the migrant.kg site with the Center for Employment of Citizens Abroad and the Ministry of Labor, Social Security, and Migration of the Kyrgyz Republic to help connect migrants to authorized employment agencies, find information about legal migration to destinations including Russia and South Korea and learn about laws and regulations that prevent trafficking.
Using the migrant.kg site, Rashid and Aidar were able to receive counseling as well as understand the requirements for labor migrants and work placements.
