Ecosystem Services
The Ecosystem Services team has been a pioneer in the evaluation of ecosystem services from forests and agriculture for over 25 years. The ECO team interprets and translates science, and applies analysis to increase the confidence of governments, markets and investors in the integrity of ecosystem benefits. ECO employs state-of-the-art methodologies and technologies to generate and distil information for resource managers, land use planners, communities and industries for use in greenhouse gas emission estimation, planning for low emission and climate resilient development, and habitat mapping and restoration.

Nature Impact, Risk, and Opportunity Assessments
Winrock helps companies in the food, agriculture, tech, energy, extractives and other sectors to understand their impact on nature, manage the interdependencies of broader aspects of sustainability, and design and execute strategies to address their impacts.
Scaling Forest Finance: Jurisdictional REDD+ Technical Assistance and Capacity Strengthening

Jurisdictional Reducing Emissions from Deforestation and Forest Degradation (JREDD+) is a crucial mechanism for tropical forest countries seeking to achieve climate commitments, enhance sustainable forest management and access climate finance. Globally, JREDD+ has the potential to unlock billions in results-based finance for nature, protect hundreds of millions of hectares of forest and bolster the rights and resources of Indigenous peoples and local communities. Learn how Winrock’s technical assistance advances transparent and accurate emissions accounting — ensuring verified results and trusted carbon credits while strengthening jurisdictions’ long-term capacity to meet international climate commitments, such as Nationally Determined Contributions.

Technical Advisory and Validation of Climate Programs and Projects
Winrock International works collaboratively with companies to support them in building effective climate mitigation strategies, achieving emission reduction objectives, and meeting their science-based targets and net zero goals. For many companies, Scope 3 emissions make up the most sizable part of their climate emissions footprint. Winrock supports companies under this integrated service offering to create a pipeline of GHG mitigation projects in their supply chains that are technically sound and can be counted towards companies’ GHG emissions goals.
AVOIDING DOUBLE COUNTING IN JURISDICTIONAL REDD+: A Practical Assessment Tool

Developed by Winrock International under Offset National Emissions through Sustainable Landscapes project (funded by the U.S. Department of State), this tool offers a structured self-assessment for jurisdictions to identify where and how double-counting risks could arise in their REDD+ programs.
